About 33,000 tons of Ukrainian grain, which was the first grain shipment to leave Ukrainian seaports since the beginning of the war, has arrived in Ireland.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Economic Pravda publication.

The 33,000 tons of grain arrived at a port on the west coast of Ireland on 20 August, having left Odesa on 5 August with two other vessels bound for Turkey and Britain.

This grain shipment was one of the first to leave Ukraine in July under a maritime grain export agreement brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Ireland Larysa Herasko was among the officials that welcomed the grain cargo at the port of Foynes in County Limerick. According to her, the grain will help to "lift the burden of uncertainty" for Irish farmers.

She added that Ukraine would fulfill its obligations under the agreement, but global food security would depend on Russia fulfilling its obligations.
