The Smart Maritime Group (SMG) has announced that it has lost control over the Kherson shipyard.

The company made the announcement in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"The Smart Maritime Group lost control over the Kherson shipyard on 29 July. The Russian military is currently not allowing the shipyard’s administration and employees to enter the territory," the statement said.

According to the statement, the SMG’s director general has reported the seizure of the shipyard to all law enforcement agencies and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

The Kherson shipyard suspended all operations from the first day of the occupation of the city, the statement said.

"To retain personnel, all workers are being paid financial assistance. Recently, only the employees of the structural units providing physical security and emergency services remained on the territory of the shipyard. After the seizure of the shipyard, not a single employee remained on its territory," the Smart Maritime Group added in the statement.

The management of the Smart Maritime Group has also informed the relevant authorities that a Turkish ship and its crew are currently located in the waters of the shipyard and that their fate is currently unknown.

As reported earlier, the Smart Maritime Group announced on 6 July that its management had decided to shut down its shipyard in Kherson, which is temporarily occupied by Russian troops, due to the lack of organizational and technical conditions for conducting the shipyard’s business and production operations.
