The crew of a Boeing 777-300ER (TC-JJR) airliner belonging to the Turkish Airlines has made an emergency landing at an airport in Warsaw.
According to aviation blogger Vitaly Trubnikov, the pilot of the airliner entered the code 7700, which signals a general emergency, in the sky above Belarus. Air traffic controllers directed the airliner to Warsaw for an emergency landing.
Since the airliner was flying from Istanbul to San Francisco, it had a large amount of fuel on board and it had to dump this fuel in the air before landing. Polish photographer Karol Prokopiuk captured this moment (see photo).
The discovery of a mobile telephone that did not belong to any of the passengers on the airliner was the reason for the emergency landing.
