The Kilia shipbuilding and repair yard completed the repair of the Dmytro Kalinin motor ship (new name Kherson motor ship) this week.
The head of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP), Dmytro Moskalenko, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports
According to the statement, the Kilia shipbuilding and repair yard repaired the motor ship’s rudder propeller system: it dismantled the motor ship’s shaft line and rudders, inspected them for defects, and repaired them. It also completely disassembled the motor ship’s propulsion device, replaced the outer skin of its hull, repaired its starting-air cylinders and bottom-intake fittings, and painted the hull.
"Sea trials were conducted in the presence of an inspector from the Ukrainian Shipping Register," Moskalenko said.
The vessel is currently awaiting documents for the extension of its Register class for six years.
"However, the shipyard’s slip did not remain vacant for long. The next vessel - the Mykola Budnikov motor ship - has already been lifted onto it. Dock repairs of its rudder propeller system and propulsion device, work on its hull, and repair of its Kingston valves are also planned," Moskalenko added.
