Aron Mayberg, the head of the supervisory board of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), disclosed how the airline determines its fares during a press conference in Kiev.
"Fuel accounts for 30 percent of the costs, airport services 15 percent, navigation 9 percent, maintenance of crews 6 percent, maintenance of the aircraft fleet 21 percent, and distribution the rest," said Mayberg.
Thus, according to him, the airline cannot influence 54 percent of the size of the fare. "We influence only 46 percent of the tariff," he said.
He cited Kiev-Odessa-Kiev flights as an example. "Fuel accounts for 27 percent, including 17 percent in Odessa. Navigation accounts for 9 percent, airport charges 10 percent (half in Kiev, half in Odessa), distribution 16 percent, and the content of aircraft 21 percent.”
