Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has asked the District Administrative Court of Kiev to invalidate the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure’s order No. 245 of 23 April 2014 that approved the procedure for granting and revoking rights to operate flights on air routes.

"The UIA has repeatedly stated that the current procedure for granting air carriers the right to operate on air routes was introduced in gross violation of the existing legislation, particularly the Air Code of Ukraine. The current procedure provides for opaque schemes for the operations of participants on the aviation market, create conditions for corruption, and pose a direct threat to flight safety," the UIA said in a press release.

At the same time, the airline company is insisting on introduction of the new rules approved by the State Aviation Service’s order No. 686 of 24 October 2014.

As reported, the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice suspended the introduction of a State Aviation Service order on operation on air routes in late November, which resonated considerably. The Ministry of Justice said that the document was yet to undergo legal examination for compliance with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, the 1950 Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and its protocols, and international treaties signed by Ukraine.
