The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure and the Danish Ministry of Defense signed a memorandum of cooperation on the development and strengthening of Ukraine's maritime potential on 18 December. They plan to build multipurpose vessels at the Ukrainian shipbuilding facilities within the framework of this project.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"Production will be completely localized on the territory of Ukraine, and more than 50% of the volume of orders will be fulfilled by Ukrainian enterprises," the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure said in the statement.

"The future Ukrainian-Danish vessels will be built at a plant in Ukraine, using the advanced design experience of our Danish partners, as well as modern equipment," said Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The project will be implemented with the support of the Danish government and the Danish Export Credit Agency (EKF). Danish companies will design the vessels in accordance with the customer’s requirements.

The construction of the first MPV80 patrol vessel is expected to be completed by 2024. It will be able to perform dozens of functions, including search and rescue operations. The vessel will be equipped with high-tech special equipment from Danish manufacturers.

According to a presentation by the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, the vessel will have a length of 84 meters, a width of 17.6 meters, a draft of 4.5 meters, a displacement of 3,600 tons, and a cruising range of 13,000 miles. It will also be able to overcome ice up to 1 meter thick.
