Ukraine is establishing a recommended temporary maritime route to facilitate grain deliveries following Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which established a humanitarian maritime corridor to allow ships to export grain and other foodstuffs from Ukraine.
This is stated in an official letter from Kyiv to the International Maritime Organization, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Latifundist publication.
Ukraine said in the letter it "has decided to establish on a temporary basis a recommended maritime route."
"Its goal is to facilitate the unblocking of international shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea," Ukraine’s acting Minister of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development Vasyl Shkurakov said in the letter.
The additional route that Ukraine is establishing will lead to the territorial waters and exclusive maritime economic zone of Romania, which is a member of NATO.
