The largest and most powerful asphalt plant in Ukraine was launched in the village of Derhachi (Kharkiv region) on April 24. The plant will be capable of producing 320 tons of asphalt per hour and 3,500 tons per day, the CFTS reports, citing the State Road Agency (Ukravtodor).

The Avtomagistral-Yug company put the plant into operation. The plant will produce asphalt for repair of the P-46 state highway (Kharkiv-Okhtyrka) in the Kharkov region, as well for the asphalt-concrete surfaces of the highways M-03 (Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhanskyi) and T-2104 (Kharkiv-Volchansk).

Investment in the new plant amounted to more than EUR 2.5 million.

The equipment at the plant was supplied by the Marini Fayat Group (Italy).

"We are launching our fourteenth asphalt plant in Ukraine and the fifth plant of the Italian company Marini Fayat Group, which is the leader in production of asphalt plants in Europe. With the construction of the new plant, we will be able to produce up to 320 tons of asphalt per hour or more than 3,500 tons per shift, which is currently the record for similar enterprises in Ukraine," Avtomagistral-Yug’s CEO Mykola Timofeev said.

Ukravtodor’s head Slawomir Nowak said that the new production facility would significantly speed up the pace of road repairs.

The Ministry of Infrastructure recently announced that replacement of the asphalt on three state highways with cement concrete would begin in 2018.
