The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) transported the largest volume of cargo in a single month in July, the company’s Fleet Operation Chief Serhii Bakalo has announced.

"The UDP’s river fleet transported 314,000 tons of cargoes in July, of which 171,000 tons were export cargoes. The monthly volume of cargo transportation on River Danube exceeded 300,000 tons for the first time since 2010 in July. The cargoes transported were mainly coal, pellets, and ore to ports in Serbia. Grain from ports in Hungary and Serbia were transported in the opposite direction," Bakalo said.

According to him, 27 caravans currently operate on this route. The company plans to transport 250,000 tons in August if conditions are favorable.

As reported, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company returned to profitability in the second quarter, when it made a profit of UAH 506,000 compared with a loss of UAH 12.8 million a year earlier.
