Ukrainian seaports handled 45.8 million tons of cargo in the period from January to May 2024.

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, this volume is twice the volume of cargo handled by Ukrainian ports in the same period of 2023. For comparison, Ukrainian ports handled 55.4 million tons in the first five months of 2021 and 68 million tons in the first five months of 2020.

The USPA said it will continue to work on expanding the range of cargo types, as well as on improving container and ferry transportation services.

All the Ukrainian ports currently in operation handled 37.7 million tons of cargo from January to April 2024, compared with 22 million tons in 2023.

In addition, 50 million tons of cargo were exported through Ukraine's Black Sea maritime corridor in the first nine months of the corridor's operation.
