The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company launched operation of 28 pellet wagons built at the Paniutin railcar repair plant on October 25. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, these were the first pellet wagons to be built at the company’s own plant in many years.
In total, 370 gondola cars are expected to be produced at Ukrzaliznytsia’s railcar repair plants before the end of 2016. The company also plans to order production of an additional 650 freight cars in plants abroad.
A number of open tenders for supply of freight cars to Ukrzaliznytsia will be held at the end of October. The company plans to order an additional 650 gondola cars from third parties
According to Ukrzaliznytsia’s Director of Engineering and Maintenance Volodymyr Krot, Ukrzaliznytsia’s fleet will be increased by 1,048 new railcars in 2016.
