The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is diversifying its sources of diesel fuel by constantly holding international electronic auctions in which both Ukrainian and foreign suppliers can participate.
The company is doing this to prevent a possible threat to its energy supplies due to the foreign-policy situation surrounding the country. Ukrzaliznytsia stated this in response to an information request from the CFTS portal.
"It is proposed that the participants in such auctions supply diesel fuel produced by Greece, the Republic of Lithuania, Turkmenistan, Israel, Italy, India, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, and others," the company said in a statement.
Diesel fuel produced in Belarus accounts for 30-40% of the diesel fuel that Ukrzaliznytsia uses, depending on the season.
"The largest suppliers of fuel for the needs of Ukrzaliznytsia are currently LLC Alliance Energy Trade, LLC Oil Trade 2018, PE OKKO Contract, and LLC Anvitrade. The current fuel reserves are sufficient to ensure sustainable and smooth operation of the railway industry," the company said.
