The average wage of employees of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) was UAH 11,660 in March 2020.
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in response to an information request from the CFTS portal, citing the company's statistical data.
According to JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, the average monthly salaries as of March were UAH 20,162 locomotive drivers, UAH 14,215 for assistant drivers, UAH 13, 013 for yardmasters, UAH 11,670 for station attendants, UAH 12038 for track fitters, and UAH 13,350 for signaling technicians.
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia said that the wages of its employees reduced in March.
The railway company attributed the reduction of wages to the suspension of passenger transportation on suburban, urban, and regional routes as a result of the introduction of measures to comply with the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution "On Preventing the Spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in Ukraine," as well as to the reduction in the volume of freight traffic during the period of quarantine or restrictive measures.
As reported earlier, data from JSC Ukrzaliznytsia stated that the average monthly salary at the company was UAH 12,435 as of September 2019. The salaries of railway workers averaged UAH 11,324 per month in June 2019.
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ukrainian Trade Union of Railway Workers and Transportation Builders signed a memorandum in December 2019, in which JSC Ukrzaliznytsia undertook to raise the tariff rates and official salaries of its employees by at least 10% in the first quarter of 2020.
