Builders have already equipped 85% of the length of the Beskyd tunnel, the Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun has announced.
"Some fresh figures on the construction work: 1,527 meters (85% of the total length) of the tunnel has been equipped, waterproofing of 1,572 meters of its base has been performed, 384 meters of the arch and walls, permanent processing of 336 meters of the tunnel has been completed," Balczun wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, all the works are on schedule.
"Exactly one year before the completion of the Beskyd tunnel. We will launch traffic in early summer 2018… We will complete the construction itself in November 2017, after which we will equip the approaches to the new tunnel, lay the tracks, and install power supply networks, signaling systems, and communications systems. We plan to finish this work in May next year," Balczun wrote.
