The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is launching the Carpathian Express, a modern three-car diesel train, on the Ivano-Frankivsk – Kivertsi route (via Lviv and Lutsk). The train will link three tourist regions in western Ukraine, offering Ukrainians and visitors to the country an opportunity to visit, among other places, Morshyn, which almost has no convenient rail link.

The company announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The train No. 807/808 Ivano-Frankivsk – Kivertsi will begin operation on 29 May. It will operate daily except on Wednesdays and will pass through Kalush, Dolyna, Morshyn, Stryi, Lviv, Pidzamche, Radekhiv, Stoyaniv, Horokhiv, and Lutsk.

The train will depart from Ivano-Frankivsk at 15:20 and arrive in Lutsk at 23:30 (Kivertsi at 23:50).

The train will begin operating in the opposite direction on 31 May. It will operate daily except on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It will depart from Kivertsi at 05:14 (from Lutsk at 05:30) and arrive in Ivano-Frankivsk at 13:38. Every Thursday, it will operate on the Lviv – Ivano-Frankivsk route (departure from Lviv at 09:59, arrival in Ivano-Frankivsk at 01:38), passing through the cities of Stryi, Morshyn, Dolyna, and Kalush. From June 2, the train will run between Kivertsi and Lviv on Wednesdays (departure from Kivertsi at 05:14, arrival in Lviv at 09:51).

A Ukrainian DPKr-3 diesel train manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works will be operated on the route.

"It is a comfortable modern train equipped with sockets and an air conditioning system. It is comfortable for passengers with disabilities. It was operated on the Kyiv-Boryspil Express route in Kyiv in 2019. It began operating as an express train on the route between the T. Shevchenko station and Cherkasy after passenger volumes fell because of the coronavirus crisis. It has now been replaced on this route by a Pesa 620M railbus," Ukrzaliznytsia said.

As the CFTS previously reported, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a train on the Lysychansk – Odesa route, which has been announced several times in recent years. Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia began selling tickets for the daily train No. 86/186-185/85 Lviv – Novooleksiivka – Berdiansk.
