The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) launched a high-speed express train between Kyiv and the Boryspil International Airport on Friday, November 30, the CFTS portal reports. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the high-speed express train between the Ukrainian capital and the country’s largest airport will operate 24 hours per day.
The high-speed express train will make stops at the Darnytsia train station on the route from Kyiv’s Central Railway Station to the airport.
The fare will be UAH 80.
The first train will depart from the Central Railway Station in Kyiv at 00:08. The intervals between trains will be approximately one hour from 08:00 to 06:00, 30-40 minutes until 09:58, about one hour until 17:54, and 20-45 minutes until 21:59. The last train will leave the station at 22:52.
From the Boryspil airport, the trains will begin operation at 00:48 and run at intervals of about 1 hour until 06:43, 25-45 minutes until 10:50, about 1 hour until 18:34, 30-40 minutes until 21:55, and then about 70 and 40 minutes (the last train will depart at 23:47).
The travel time will be about 40 minutes.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, four rail buses manufactured by Pesa Bydgoszcz SA and upgraded at the Grechany locomotive depot will be operated on the route. The rail buses can accommodate 120 passengers. They are also equipped with baggage areas.
The Kyiv-Boryspil express train project cost UAH 480 million. The project involved addition of about 4 kilometers of rail tracks to the existing railway infrastructure and construction of a 272-meter flyover over the M03 Kyiv-Kharkiv Highway, two passenger platforms with pavilions, and an indoor pedestrian crossing from these platforms to the Boryspil airport’s Terminal D. It also involved reconstruction of a platform at the Central Railway Station in Kyiv.
