The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) reduced freight transportation by 4% to 404.8 million tons during the period of January-November 2013, compared with the corresponding period of 2012, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has announced.

Ukrzaliznytsia’s cargo turnover reduced by 6.5% to 204.5 billion ton-kilometers during this period. The volume of transportation of transit goods reduced by 20.2% to 30.62 million tons.

Ukrzaliznytsia transported 446.9 million passengers in January-November this year, which represents a 0.5% reduction compared with January-November last year. Of these, Intercity+ trains (manufactured by Hyundai and Skoda) transported 2.1 million passengers.

The passenger turnover during this period was 45.6 billion passenger-kilometers, which is roughly the same as the turnover in the corresponding period of last year.

Ukrainian railways paid UAH 11.7 billion into budgets and special state funds in January-November 2013, including UAH 3.6 billion into the state budget.
