The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company performed various kinds of repairs on 430.8 kilometers of railway tracks from 1 January to 10 May, the press service of the company announced.
The company performed reconstruction work on 74.7 kilometers of railway tracks, overhauled 55.5 kilometers, performed moderate repair work on 143.7 kilometers, and rehabilitated 156.9 kilometers.
Simultaneously with the repair of railway tracks, the company is replacing railway switches. It has already installed 15 new and 20 used switches and performed moderate repair work on 131 switches.
The track repair works were performed mostly on the following routes: Mironivka-Piatikhatki-Chapline-Krasnoarmiisk, Konotop-Zernove, Zhmerynka-Pidvolochysk, Poltava-Kremenchuk, Ternopil-Pidvolochysk, Lviv-Lavochne-Mukacheve, Sarny-Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk - Rakhiv.
In total, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to reconstruct 270 kilometers of tracks, overhaul 256.5 kilometers, perform moderate repair work on 650 kilometers, and rehabilitate 550 kilometers in 2016. In addition, it will perform moderate repair work on 513 railway switches, replace 208 railway switches with new ones, and replace more 185 with used ones.
