The Liski Transport Service Center, a division of the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), plans to purchase 100 container flatcars in the second half of 2018. The Liski Transport Service Center’s first deputy head Oleksandr Polischuk announced this in an interview with Ukrzaliznytsia’s Magistral media center.

"Considering the increase in the volume of transportation of containers, rolling stock is not always enough and there is constant need to update the fleet of container flatcars. The Liski Transport Service Center purchased 65 container flatcars in 2017 and we plan to purchase 100 more in the second half of this year. The process of its construction has already begun," Polischuk said.

According to him, it is necessary to purchase an additional 2,000 container flatcars within five years to meet the long-term plan.

As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia announced last autumn that construction of 200 container flatcars was planned.
