The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) intends to double the number of high-speed trains on InterCity+ train routes in the next five years.

This was announced by Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Yevhen Kravtsov, the CFTS portal reports.

“The government’s task for the next five years is to increase the number of rolling stock on high-speed routes by 10. We will thus double the fleet of these trains, which will enable us to offer our customers the best service,” Kravtsov said.

In addition, according to him, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to overhaul about 40 passenger cars this year.

“In addition, we will receive the first diesel train produced in Ukraine by the end of the year. We plan to operate it on the route to the Boryspil airport,” Kravtsov said.

The Ukrainian High-Speed Railway ​​Company, which is a division of Ukrzaliznytsia, currently has 10 HRCS2 interregional high-speed electric trains manufactured by Hyundai Rotem, two EKr-1 high-speed inter-regional electric trains manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works, two EJ675 double-decker high-speed electric trains manufactured by Skoda Vagonka, and 10 passenger cars with an operating speed of 160 km/h manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works on its books.
