The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company plans to buy 70 new passenger railcars in 2017, the company’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun has announced.
According to information from Ukrzaliznytsia, the company will be able to spend UAH 15 billion on upgrade of its freight and passenger cars if higher railway tariffs are approved for next year. The total amount of investment is expected to reach UAH 27 billion.
As previously reported, Ukrzaliznytsia has approved a five-year investment plan that provides for upgrading its rolling stock. The company plans to invest UAH 108 billion in purchase and repair of 96,000 railcars (both freight and passenger).
Ukrzaliznytsia expects to buy almost 9,000 railcars in 2017.
