The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) has terminated the agreement on carriage of goods under special conditions, which provides for transportation of freight in accordance with the timetables of unit trains.
The Transport Logistics Center, which is a division of Ukrzaliznytsia, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
According to the statement, Ukrzaliznytsia is ending freight transportation on unit trains on 18 September 2020, inclusive. However, the statement may be withdrawn if a new version of the agreement is presented.
In addition, according to the statement, the Transport Logistics Center notified customers on 28 August that the agreement will be terminated on 18 September.
As reported, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine uncovered in May that transportation of freight on unit trains by Ukrzaliznytsia reduced delivery times for some customers but had a negative impact on transportation for other companies. In connection with this, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine recommended that Ukrzaliznytsia create equal conditions for all participants on the rail freight market.
Ukrzaliznytsia reacted to the Antimonopoly Committee’s recommendations by saying that the service involving transportation of goods on unit trains does not affect the standard delivery time of goods.
