The Volnovakha - Kamysh-Zoria railway stretch will become fully dual-track, the CFTS portal reports, citing information from Ukrzaliznytsia.
"These photos are from the modernization of the Volnovakha – Kamysh-Zoria strategic railway line. It will become completely dual-track. The most powerful construction of a new line since Ukraine achieved independence is continuing in the Donetsk region," Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Yevhen Kravtsov wrote on Facebook.
According to him, railway workers have already built 26.9 kilometers of track, and additional 7 kilometers is planned.
The modernization of the railway line has allowed Ukrzaliznytsia to launch another passenger train to Mariupol that travels 2 hours faster than other trains this year, he wrote.
During the three years of modernization on the infrastructure on the Volnovakha – Kamysh-Zoria railway stretch, 84.8 kilometers of track and 54 switches have been repaired, which has significantly increased the capacity of the railway line from 20 pairs of trains in 2016 to 30 in 2018 (including, from 14 freight trains to 24).
