The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) transported 103.86 million tons of cargo in the period of January-July 2024. This represents a 25.6% increase compared with the volume it transported in the same period last year.

Valerii Tkachov, deputy director of the commercial department of Ukrzaliznytsia, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports, citing the publication Business Censor.

According to Tkachov, the volume of rail freight transportation increased by 12% in July 2024 compared with July 2023.

The volume of transportation of domestic freight decreased by 0.9% to 46.67 million tons compared to last year. On the other hand, the volume of transportation of imported freight increased by 58.4% and the volume of transportation of export freight by 62.3%.

The Ukrzaliznytsia representative attributed the increase in the volume of transportation of export freight to the efficient operation of Ukraine’s cargo export corridor from the ports of Greater Odesa.
