The average daily load on Ukrainian railways was 1.031 million tons in December last year, an increase of 11.8% compared with December 2012, the press service of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has announced.

The average number of railcars loaded per day increased by 10.3% to 16,093.

The gross freight turnover of locomotives in December 2013 was 32.642 billion ton-kilometers, which was 4% higher compared with the previous year. The net freight turnover was about 19.473 billion ton-kilometers (-4.6% compared with December 2012), and the transit traffic was 3.302 billion ton-kilometers (-4.2% compared with December 2012).

The average daily distance traveled by locomotives was 503 kilometers, which represents a 6.6% increase compared with the target and a 2.9% increase compared with December 2012.

The gross average daily productivity of the locomotive fleet was 1.420 million ton-kilometers (+4.8% compared with the target and +1.9% compared with December 2012).

The average weight of a freight train was 3,375 tons (+0.2% compared with the target and -0.9% compared with December 2012). The average operating speed of locomotives was 45.5 km/h (+2.7% compared with the target and +0.8% compared with December 2012).

The turnaround for a freight car was 7.42 days (+0.4% compared with the target); the turnaround for a loaded freight car was 3.40 days (+3.8% compared with the target).
