The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority has invited tenders for dredging the Mariupol and Berdiansk seaports. These seaports on the Sea of Azov are in greater need of maintenance dredging because of greater silting than the seaports in Greater Odesa. Therefore, it is a priority for the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority to invite tenders for their maintenance dredging before the end of 2017, the CFTS reports.

The cost of the maintenance dredging is tentatively estimated at UAH 499.9 million. Bids will be accepted until February 2, 2018.

The approximate volumes of dredging are 1.4 million cubic meters in the Mariupol seaport and 1.5 million cubic meters in the Berdiansk seaport. The dredging works are expected to be completed within eight months.

"The seaports on the Sea of Azov need urgent dredging. Silting in this water area is more intensive than, for example, in the ports in Greater Odesa, and this requires regular maintenance dredging. Therefore, it was a priority for us to invite tenders from contractors for performance of these works before the end of this year. I invite dredging companies to participate in this tender and I hope that it will be successful because full operation of our two ports and cargo logistics in the Azov basin depend on it," the Ukrainian Seaports Authority’s head Raivis Veckagans said.

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority invited tenders for dredging the Odesa seaport on December 22. In total, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority plans to perform about 11 million cubic meters of dredging works at Ukrainian seaports next year.
