The Pobeda low-cost carrier may begin international flights to seven different destinations in late November. This was reported by the Gazeta.Ru publication, which cited a source within the Aeroflot group of companies, which includes the low-cost carrier.
According to the source, the Pobeda low-cost carrier plans to operate flights from Moscow to seven cities in five European countries: Salzburg (Austria), Dresden and Cologne (Germany), Bergamo and Verona (Italy), Bratislava (Slovakia), and Chambery (France). The Pobeda low-cost carrier will compete with its parent airline, Aeroflot, on the Moscow-Dresden route.
Ticket prices are not specified, but the Pobeda low-cost carrier’s head Andrei Kalmykov said in early July that the cheapest tickets for international flights would cost from EUR 49 per route, one way, including taxes and charges.
Currently, the Pobeda low-cost carrier can operate flights only within Russia because Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) allow Russian carriers to operate international flights after two years of operating within the country. Aeroflot’s low-cost carrier has repeatedly appealed to the relevant agencies to change this rule but it has thus far refused.
Now, however, a source within the group of companies told Gazeta.Ru, airlines have been met halfway. Now, according to the FAP, the two-year rule will not apply to carriers with parent companies that are allowed to operate flights to foreign destinations.
