The Alstom company (France) will hold the latest round of negotiations on the possibility of supplying dual-system mainline electric freight locomotives with the management of PJSC Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) on Thursday, 21 January, the Podvizhny Sostav publication reports.
Firstly, Alstom will make a presentation on its capabilities regarding technical support for its products (maintenance and repair), particularly dual-system mainline electric freight locomotives.
The presentation will focus on Alstom’s projects in the CIS – maintenance of the KZ4AT and KZ8A locomotives in Kazakhstan and the AZ8A locomotives in Azerbaijan.
As reported, this will not be the first time such negotiations are being held. Representatives of Alstom and Ukrzaliznytsia met on 7 December 2015 to discuss the possibility of participation of the French company in a tender for supply of electric locomotives based on the KZ8A mainline electric locomotives, which are produced in Kazakhstan.
The possibility of producing locomotives at one of Ukraine’s engineering enterprises was also discussed at the meeting.
Siemens and Bombardier are also seeking to supply locomotives to Ukraine.
