Alstom, a French manufacturer of railway equipment and rolling stock, intends to participate in upgrade of urban rail transport in Ukraine.
The company’s CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge announced this to the CFTS portal.
Poupart-Lafarge intends to meet with representatives of the Ukrainian government to discuss opportunities for cooperation during a visit to Kyiv, including cooperation on development of urban and suburban transport in Ukraine.
“We know about Ukraine’s large transport network. It consists of not only railways, but also urban networks, subways, and suburban transport. We know that a significant part of the rolling stock needs upgrading,” Poupart-Lafarge said.
In particular, the Alstom CEO said that his company was interested in cooperation with the Kyiv and Kharkiv subways.
“We know that various subway systems in Ukrainian cities need upgrading,” Poupart-Lafarge said.
According to him, the company is only just beginning to discuss this issue at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"Alstom produces all types of rolling stock – from trams to high-speed trains and from passenger trains to freight trains. Therefore, sale of all types of our products in Ukraine is possible," he said.
