The Antonov state aircraft enterprise has completed the construction a new emergency rescue station at the Kiev-Antonov airport in Gostomel (Kiev region) and launched it into operation. The station was built in accordance with ICAO standards, the press service of Antonov reports.

This is the first such station to be built in the Kiev region in the past 15 years. The station ensures the required level of fire protection for aircraft operations and assistance to passengers and crew in case of need.

The airfield, takeoff and landing of aircraft, flights around the aerodrome, local parking places, gas stations, etc. are monitored from the station. About 20 people can be on duty at the station 24 hours a day. This allows the station to ensure arrival of fire trucks and emergency equipment at the airfield within 2-4 minutes after receiving an alarm. Four heavy fire vehicles are based at the station.

Under the relevant project, the airport’s air traffic control tower was also modernized and its air-traffic control equipment and radar equipment were upgraded.
