The Antonov state aircraft manufacturing enterprise has completed the damage assessment of the An-225 Mriya strategic airlift cargo aircraft and will continue the restoration of the aircraft after the war.
This was reported by the publication Ekonomichna Pravda, citing sources at Antonov, the CFTS portal reports.
The company’s employees have completed the damage assessment of the An-225 Mriya, which needed to be conducted as swiftly as possible to preserve the surviving components. Now, the company has “focused its resources on tasks of higher priority for the state.”
The work was financed by a special fund for the restoration of the Mriya, which has raised USD 3 million.
The exact cost of a new An-225 has yet to be calculated. It will depend partly on whether Antonov can use parts from Russian-owned Ruslan aircraft in Canada and Germany, which may be confiscated and transferred to Ukraine.
