The Antonov state aircraft manufacturing enterprise will complete the construction of the second An-225 “Mria” transport plane for the company Aerospace Industry Corporation of China (AICC). The relevant agreement was signed on Tuesday, 30 August, Antonov announced.
The agreement also provides for establishment of joint serial production of the An-225, the terms of which will be spelled out in a separate document. Details of cooperation in this area have not yet been disclosed.
"An agreement on cooperation is a somewhat atypical agreement, but it is certainly not a purchase/sale [agreement]. Rather, it is joint operations in which Antonov is the party that performs such activities, makes a certain contribution, most likely licenses, and later earns a profit from this. However, this is speculation, we will see how it works out," said aviation law attorney Andrii Huk, commenting on the signing of the document.
Only one An-225 plane exists. It was built in the period of 1984-1988. The second is partially constructed.
As reported, China Central Television (CCTV) recently reported that production of the An-225 would be established in China in 2019. However, this information was not confirmed by the Ukrainian company.
