The Bombardier Transportation company (Canada), the world's largest manufacturer of railway equipment, is ready to participate in the tender for supply of electric locomotives to the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia).
Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this on his Facebook page.
“Everyone is waiting for the Ukrzaliznytsia tender, in which not only Alstom, but also Bombardier and Chinese companies, are ready to participate. It cannot be delayed any longer, given the complete deterioration of Ukrainian locomotives,” the minister wrote while commenting on the outcome of his visit to France last week.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Viktor Dovhan announced in September that Alstom and CRRC (China) would participate in the tender for supply of electric locomotives to Ukraine.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting head Yevhen Kravtsov later said that deals were likely to be concluded with several other manufacturers, particularly Siemens and Skoda, in addition to Alstom and CRRC, which are considered the main bidders for the right to supply the locomotives.
