Busfor, a bus ticketing and booking platform, in Ukraine and other Central and Eastern European countries, has stopped operating services under its own brand.
The company’s founder and CEO Ilya Yekushevsky announced this in an interview with the CFTS portal.
"We have decided to focus on distribution of third-party bus operators’ services and not on development of a network of services for partner carriers under our own brand. The franchise project has been shut down, and we do not plan to change anything in this current business model," he said when asked whether bus services were still being operated under the brand name of the company that Busfor launched in 2015.
As the CFTS portal reported, it was announced on September 25 that the Busfor service had been acquired by BlaBlaCar, the world's largest carpooling service for long-distance trips.
The acquisition of Busfor will enable the company to expand its operations on the passenger transportation market in a region with a population of more than 300 million people.
Completion of the transaction requires regulatory approval, which is expected to be granted in the fourth quarter of 2019.
