The volume of cargo transshipment at seaports in mainland Ukraine totaled 57.972 million tons in January-May, which is 9.6% higher than in the volume in the same period of last year. The press service of the Administration Seaports of Ukraine (ASU) announced this in a statement, citing the latest data.

State-owned port operators handled 20.204 million tons (35% of the total) while private operators handled 37.768 million tons through all berths (65% of the total), including 20.170 million tons through the ASD’s berths (35%).

Transshipment of export cargo increased by 18% to 41.832 million tons, transshipment of import cargo reduced by 11.8% to 5.941 million tons, transshipment of transit cargo reduced by 0.4% to 10.002 million tons, and transshipment of coastal cargo reduced by 72% to 198,000 tons.

The volume of transshipment of containers at seaports totaled 294,815 TEU, which is 3.2% less than the volume in January-May 2013.
