The first stage of dredging work was completed at the Olvia specialized seaport on April 10. The dredging work involved deepening the operational waters of the port’s ​​berths Nos. 1-4 and auxiliary berth to bring their depths to the declared levels. Operational dredging was last performed at the port in 2007, the CFTS reports, citing information from the Ukrainian Seaports Authority.

The dredging work was performed by the Ukrainian Seaports Authority’s Delta Lotsman company. "Operational dredging in the port was last performed in 2007, and there was a section near the auxiliary berth where dredging had not been performed since its construction," the Olvia port authority said.

The dredging work began in December 2016.

As the CFTS previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the financial plan of the state-owned Olvia Stevedoring Company. The volume of capital investments is planned at UAH 108.13 million, including UAH 1.8 million for capital construction, UAH 62.335 million for purchase of equipment, UAH 26.99 million for reconstruction and modernization, and UAH - 13.36 million for repairs of buildings and equipment.

According to the results of work in The Olvia port increased cargo handling by 39.2% to 1.791 million tons in the period of January-March, compared with the corresponding period of last year.

The declared draft at the port is 10.5 meters.
