The Interpipe pipe and wheel holding company has signed a long-term contract for supply of freight wheelsets to INVEHO UFO, one of the largest railcar manufacturing and repair companies in France.

Interpipe announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, the contract provides for production of 1,530 ULT-25 wheelsets in Ukraine and their supply to the French company by September 2022.

INVEHO UFO will use these wheelsets to manufacture new freight cars.

"Interpipe engineers developed the ULT-25 wheelsets for the European track gauge, and they are in high demand not only among customers in France but also in Germany and other European countries," the company said in the statement.

"The French-based INVEHO UFO is our regular customer. Interpipe has already shipped two large orders to the company," said Oleksandr Harkavyi, director of the railway products division at Interpipe.

According to him, the ULT-25 wheelsets have one of the most popular designs on the European freight-train market. They are capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. "The low-stress design of the wheel disc increases its wear resistance and extends the product’s life cycle," Harkavyi said.

As the CFTS portal reported previously, Interpipe completed its first-ever delivery of wheels for passenger cars to Thailand in October last year. The wheels were intended for Bangkok’s overground high-speed metro system. Interpipe made the first delivery of wheels for high-speed passenger trains to Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s national railway operator, in November 2020.
