Kharkiv plans to build an underground depot for subway rolling stock.
The mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, announced this during a national telethon, the CFTS portal reports.
"We continue to work with our international partners on the construction of new subway stations. This is a landmark project for us, for which funds have already been allocated. The project also provides for constructing an underground depot, which was previously planned to be built on the surface," he said.
The Kharkiv mayor added that the design documentation has been amended, and the depot will be built underground.
"It will serve as a shelter for subway cars," Terekhov said.
As the CFTS portal reported, in 2024, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers plans to allocate UAH 1.27 billion for the construction of subways in Kharkiv and Dnipro. UAH 722 million is planned for the extension of the third subway line in Kharkiv.
The construction of the third subway line in Kharkiv will continue, and the financial institutions providing loans for its financing support this position. The project for the development of the Kharkiv subway provides for the construction of an electric depot, the construction of two subway stations, and the purchase of 85 pieces of rolling stock. Loans of EUR 320 million have been obtained to finance its implementation.
