The Kyiv trolleybus depot No. 2 has added five new Bohdan trolleybuses to its fleet, the Kyiv municipal administration’s deputy head Ilia Sahaidak announced.
The driver cabins and passenger salons of all the trolleybuses are equipped with air-conditioning systems. However, the main feature of the trolleybuses is autonomous operation: they are capable of traveling a distance of 1 kilometer at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour without connecting to the catenary system. This allows the trolleybuses to travel through problem sections of tracks and spend less time in in traffic jams.
According to Sahaidak, the trolleybuses have low floors and they are equipped with video surveillance systems, places for wheel chairs, handrails, and ramps, among other things.
As the CFTS reported, Kyiv recently took delivery of 10 trams manufactured by the Pesa company (Poland). Kyiv plans to replace all the trolleybus fleet on the Borschahivska line with new trams.
