The Lemtrans freight forwarding company plans to purchase 1,000 new gondola cars for transporting goods in 2017. Lemtrans’ Director of Production Serhii Sonin announced this during a roundtable at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, the CFTS portal reports.
"We are making provisions for 1,000 railcars in the business plan [for 2017]," Sonin said.
Traditionally, the main producer of wagons for the company is the Popasna railcar repair plant in the Luhansk region. Lemtrans has not bought new rolling stock this year.
The Lemtrans limited liability company is the largest private freight forwarding company in Ukraine. It offers the full range of services involving transportation of goods by rail. The company transported 44.6 million tons of various types of cargoes, primarily coal and iron ore, in the first nine months of 2016.
