LOT Polish Airlines (Polskie Linie Lotnicze) will start operating flights from Kharkov on 1 March 2016, the website of the Kharkov airport reports.

LOT will operate flights to Kharkov on Embraer aircraft five times a week. The departure time from Kharkov to Warsaw is planned in a way that will make as many flights as possible to cities in North America and Europe accessible to passengers.

LOT currently operates flights from Warsaw to three airports in Ukraine: Boryspil, Lvov, and Odessa.

As reported, the opening ceremony of LOT Polish Airlines’ official hub took place at the Warsaw airport on 4 November. The hub is a separate area intended for services to the carrier’s passengers. It consists of 20 desks for economy-class passengers and 10 for business-class passengers.

There is also a separate business lounge. The LOT hub serves only the airline’s customers. The creation of the hub is aimed at increasing the number of LOT’s transit passengers. They are expected to reach 50% in 2016 and 55% in 2020.

Transit passengers accounted for 38% of the the total number of LOT’s passengers in the first nine months of 2013, 42% in 2014, and 45% this year.
