The Petersburg ferry (owned by the BFI company) has departed from the port of Baltiysk for Sassnitz (Germany).

Yuri Pyatanov, the general director of LLC Trans-Exim, the company that chartered the ferry, told the PortNews agency that 60 tickets were sold for the first trip to Sassnitz and 25 tickets for the return trip. According to him, the low demand for the new ferry line is due to the resumption of the movement of trucks across the Polish border.

The new ferry line was organized by the Association of Automobile Carriers. The Petersburg ferry’s trip scheduled for 24 February 2016 has been canceled. The next trip, for which tickets are currently being sold, is scheduled for 26 February 2016.

At the same time, a pileup of about 700 trucks on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border (in the direction of the Klaipeda port and Kaliningrad) was observed on Monday.
