A major corporation based in Asia is seeking to invest in Kiev-Berlin and Kiev-Odessa Kiev-Odessa, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian wrote on his Facebook page.

"Today, I held talks with a company that is in the top 3 infrastructure corporations in the Asian region. There is substantive interest in investing in construction of Kiev-Lvov-Warsaw-Berlin and Kiev-Odessa high-speed passenger rail links and development of river logistics and modern highways," Omelian wrote.

According to him, joint expert work on preparation of project proposals will begin next week.

As reported, China Railway will build a high-speed railway between Budapest and Belgrade. A Chinese consortium will provide 85% of the funds for the project and Hungary will provide the remaining funds. The total cost of the project is estimated at 10 billion yuan (about USD 1.57 billion).

The maximum speed of trains on the new line will be 160 kilometers per hour and the travel time between Budapest and Belgrade will reduce to two and a half hours.

Under the terms of the relevant agreement, the 166-kilometer Hungarian section of the existing railway line will be modernized and electrified and a second railway track will be built.
