The Nibulon company plans to launch a transshipment terminal on the Southern Bug River in the village of Buhske (Voznesenskyi district of the Mykolaiv region) in June 2016. The Mykolaiv region’s Governor Vadym Merykov announced this in an interview with the Ports of Ukraine journal.

"The new terminal will provide around 100 jobs, including jobs for residents of the Voznesenskyi district. Additional revenues will be generated into the local budget from tax payments from the company, and agricultural producers will be able to become direct exporters of their products," the governor said.

According to Merykov, under this project Nibulon will use its own funds and technical equipment to perform dredging operations in this segment of the Southern Bug River. "Implementation of this project will allow resumption of shipping on a stretch of more than 100 kilometers of the Southern Bug River. The depth of the navigable channel will be increased to 2.3-2.4 meters," he said.

Development of navigation will relieve the load on highways. "The new terminal will be able to receive up to 0.5 million tons of grains and oilseeds per year with subsequent transportation on the Southern Bug River. This will provide an opportunity to reduce the load on the highways in the Veselynovskyi, Domanevskyi, Mykolaiv, and Novoodeskyi districts of the region... In general, the network of transshipment terminals on the Southern Bug River allows the Nibulon company annually transport up to 1 million tons of cargo by river and take up to 50,000 trucks off the roads in the Mykolaiv region," Merykov said.

Nibulon began construction of the new transshipment terminal on the Southern Bug River in October 2015. The terminal’s design capacity for grain storage will be 76,000 tons per day and the capacity to load 12,000 tons onto water transport facilities. Its dryers will have a capacity of 4,000 tons per day.

The project involves construction of a berthing complex with a length of 120 meters and a width of 18 meters, which will allow it to load the company’s self-propelled vessels. For these operations, ship loaders with a capacity of 500 tons per hour will be installed at the berth.

The transshipment terminal will cost about UAH 450 million.
