Two vessels belonging to Novadeal Ltd., a subsidiary of the DEME Group (Belgium), arrived at the Yuzhny seaport on November 2. One is the Breughel trailing suction hopper dredger and the other is the Odin dredging plough.
The dredger arrived at 11:00 and moored at the berth No.1 while the dredging plough entered the port in the evening, the CFTS reports, citing the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
The Breughel trailing suction hopper dredger operates under the flag of the Netherlands. It has a length of 121.5 meters, a width of 28 meters, and a deadweight of 18,440 tons. The Odin dredging plough has a length of 30 meters and a width of 12.5 meters and operates under the flag of the Netherlands.
The vessels will be used to perform operational dredging work in the port’s waters. This work is expected to continue until the end of November.
"The vessels were mobilized in advance, which confirms the responsibility and reliability of our partner. We expect the advanced European experience of Novadeal Ltd to result in high quality and speed of work," the Ukrainian Seaports Authority’s head Raivis Veckagans said.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and Novadeal Ltd. signed a contract for maintenance dredging of the Yuzhny seaport’s internal waters and its internal approach channel in June this year.
Novadeal Ltd will perform maintenance dredging of the operational waters of the port’s berths Nos. 2-4, 7-9, 16, 17, 3H, and 38. The estimated volume of dredging work is 411,200 cubic meters.
