The Odesa international airport welcomed its one-millionth passenger of the year on August 16.

The passenger flew on Ukraine International Airlines flight PS 060, the CFTS portal reports, citing data from the airport.

The company's management and representatives of the airline welcomed the millionth passenger with a bouquet of flowers, a birthday cake, and souvenirs.

"This year we managed to reach the 1 million passenger mark as early as August, which is a record for the Odesa airport," said the airport’s Director of Marketing and Commerce Viacheslav Chehlatonev. In 2018, the airport welcomed its millionth passenger in September.

The Odesa international airport handled 900,879 passengers in the first seven months of 2019, which is 12.3% more than the number of passengers it handled in the corresponding period of 2018. These included 169,010 passengers on domestic flights (a 16% increase) and 731 869 on international flights (10.9% increase).

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, the Ryanair airline announced last week that it would launch the seventh route from Odesa. The Hungarian low-cost airline, Wizz Air, will launch flights to six destinations from Odesa in November. The flights will be operated to Budapest, Berlin, Gdansk, Bratislava, Wroclaw, and Katowice.
