The first phase of construction of the new terminal at the Odesa airport has been completed, and the terminal has already been commissioned. Mayor of Odesa Hennadii Trukhanov announced this at a staff meeting on 30 January, the Dumskaya reports.
According to Trukhanov, the new terminal will begin handling domestic flights in spring this year.
Meanwhile, construction of the runway has not yet begun. According to Trukhanov, the city has prepared the package of documents necessary to obtain money for construction of the runway. The mayor's office expects construction work to begin this year and end next year.
The new terminal complex has a total area of 29,000 square meters. It will be equipped with 28 passenger check-in desks and 12 boarding gates. It has a capacity of 1,000 passengers per hour, which is the equivalent of 3.5 million people per year.
