A bridge over the Prut River has opened to traffic in the Chernivtsi region.

The Autostrada group of companies’ head Maksym Shkil announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The bridge is on a strategic highway that leads to the Porubne - Siret and Krasnoilsk -Vicovu de Sus border crossings on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

"It was necessary to ensure full-fledged traffic in this direction as quickly as possible to establish the logistics of humanitarian and military cargo from European countries," the statement said.

This is one of the longest Acrow/Bailey temporary bridges. It has a length of 120 meters.

Before opening to traffic, the structure was inspected and tested under load. The bridge can handle any vehicle.

"The opening of the bridge was highly anticipated in the region because the old, inoperable bridge over the Prut River at this location was dismantled back in 2021. The construction of a new bridge was postponed indefinitely because of the full-scale war," Shkil said.

The "Norwegian" bridge, which was installed within a few months, will relieve the traffic on the M-19 and H-10 highways and finally provide a direct link between settlements.
