Kyiv’s Mayor Vitalii Klitschko inspected the progress of preparations to begin demolition of the Shuliavskyi overpass in the early hours of March 17, the CFTS portal reports, citing Klitschko’s Facebook page.

According to him, the demolition of the overpass was scheduled to begin in the early hours of March 17 and construction of a new bridge is scheduled to begin in April.

"According to experts, construction of the new overpass will take 17 months. The total cost will be about UAH 1 billion. It will be a modern transport infrastructure for the capital city. We will also equip the new overpass with a bicycle path," Klitschko wrote.

According to him, more than 70 bridges and overpasses in Kyiv are close to becoming unsafe and require repair.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Klitschko has said that a law aimed at combating illegal parking will enter into force in Kyiv after certification of the relevant photo and video capturing equipment.
